Sometimes I get too impatient. I have a few more inches of knitting on my blue longies, then a waistband and I'm done, but it's those last few inches that keep staring at me. With any luck, I can get them finished today.
I did manage to sew a diaper cover yesterday (it was already cut out and ready to go). The thing is, the pattern was marked newborn/ small and it nearly fits my DS (a healthy size Large). So hummph. Making my own patterns wasn't working, and apparently neither is using someone else's. Back to the drawing board I suppose. But, the good news is that it actually looks good and functional, just not well sized.
I am spreading my name locally on custom knitting...it sure would be nice to get a job or two from that...we definitely could use any and all cash coming our way right now. I guess that means I should put the saltwater taffy away and pick up these longies and get them DONE. But the taffy is so...good....mmmmmmmmm
Off to knit,

Sweater and Hat

I forgot to post these from a week ago. This combo is for one of DH's coworkers who is having a baby later this fall. It's a soy-wool combo, very soft, but it also tends to pull apart as you're working (especially sewing up the seams), so I don't know that I'll buy it again. It's very soft though! The sweater is very easy; I adjusted the hat to knit in the round so no seams there!
Please ignore the mess on my coffeetable. Please.

Green Longies

Pair #1 of the longies are finished! I made these for a friend, and have started a pair of blue ones for her as well. I'm not sure why they looked so skewed in the pic, but they aren't really like that, lol! These are a Medium Long (long in the rise, medium in the waist and inseam). I added an action shot from trying them on my DS, and they are short on him as he is taller than the recipiant. They are knitted from PureWool with size 7 dpn and round needles. They have an elastic waist.

Knotable Updates
I have't updated the blog for awhile, for several reasons. For one, I finished several projects at once and took a brief knitting hiatus (my hands were hurting!), for another, I like to procrastinate. Here are some things I've made since my last update.
This is a blue soaker in Malabrigo (love it!), size medium, knit on size 7 dpn. They have an elastic waist band, and I forget which pattern I fashioned these from, because I changed the pattern quite a bit in the knitting anyway.

This is a wrap soaker, knitted and fulled in the washer. I used fold-over elastic (FOE) around the edge to bind it, although the fulling made the knitting so thick that it was rather hard to sew. The effect is nice, but it's too small to try on my DS to see how it fits. With the fulling though it should be about watertight! I also got to play with my snap press on this baby!

Ok, I know this isn't knitted but I have to share :) I bought the pattern and material for this probably a year ago, and then it sat for a long time. I found it while cleaning out my sewing thigns and decided to try my hand at baby apparel...I am totally hooked! Instead of using snap tape for the crotch, I again used my beloved snap press.

I also had this fabric laying around, but only had a yard of it. I scrimped and arranged until I MADE all the pattern pieces fit so I could make another romper. I did this one over last weekend - took me maybe 6 hours total.
Ok again, totally not knitted, but I am very proud. I have delved into the world of dying and it is ADDICTIVE. In fact, when I get my yarn stash under control to the point that I'm allowed to buy yarn again I think I will buy undyed and Kool-Aid dye it myself. It is seriously too much fun. For these diapers, onesie, tee, and socks, I used one pack of Dylon dye and let it soak for 2 hours. I would have actually preferred lighter pink, but my husband took over the sink so I couldn't do my rinse when I wanted. The darker shade is pretty too.
Currently I have 3 projects on the needles. An orange/ red baby bunting, a trial of a skirtie soaker, and a pair of longies I am making for a friend from my Purewool. I will update when I have finished something!
Take care,
Chel

New shorties
Been busy knitting!
These are a pair of shorties I knitted for my Toby. They are sized large. I used 100% merino wool (SO SOFT) and size 7 dpn and circulars. Can't wait to lanolize them and try them out!

These are another pair of shorties I knitted, size medium. They are 100% wool, but not merino, so I would consider them slightly irritating, especially to sensative skin. I'm hoping I can sell these!

Wool Soaker

I knitted these over the last week or so. These are using 100% Merino wool
(Malabrigo). It took almost an entire skein, using size 7 needles, knit in the round. The are just finishing drying after I lanolized them (my first attempt). I can't wait to try them out tomorrow - I also made a flannel fitted pocket diaper for my DS, and the combo is exciting to try out!
